Week 5 (Problem statement)


An electronic entertainment sector is major booming sector in our country. This sector has undergone a rapid growth and development. From cassette to DVD, from black and white TV to colour TV, from cooper cable internet to fibre optics line internet and from manual peel to automatic peel.


Nowadays, to peel a fruit need to use energy and hand made. This method is very dangerous because can make injure for us, but nowadays many fruit peeler was produce. But most of the current product was no clutch with user. So the current product is not portable. Then, the current products are troublesome and difficult because not hold and slow to slice.

So, as engineering student, need to take risk and solve outside problem to improve our technology. Besides that, most of products also not have to clamp to prepare and not have storage for the peel fruit. And now, by this project will improve the product from manual to automatic to make sure it comfortable and make easier for user to  peel fruit especially fruit in small orbit shape.

Week 4 (Literature review)


A fruit peelers are basically kitchen utensils used to peel any kind of fruit especially that needs peeling and their use is not restricted to apple only but it can use for tomato , pear or any fruit in small orbit shape. These are the Yorkshire, the Y-peeler(1) , and the swivel peeler(2) . The Yorkshire peeler is designed like the ordinary knife, with the blade attached to the wooden or plastic handle. The Y peeler, also called the Rex peeler, is used like a razor, where the skin strips are shaved off  parallel to the handle. The swivel peeler has a plastic handle that project upward to support a rotating blade.

The only thing that is needed to remember is that fruit peelers should be used with the hands away from the blade, to avoid your skin from being peeled along with the item. There have been many innovations in apple peelers since its invention. Now there are apple peelers that work by clamping on the fruit to allow better manipulation while peeling. Other models like fruit slicer(3)  feature carbon steel blades that do not need to be re-sharpened from time to time, equally comfortable for use by left-handed users as well as right-handed.

Some people might object to the habit of peeling everything in your kitchen. It is true that most fruits and vegetables are better off eaten unpeeled because sometimes only a good washing is needed, since most nutrients in some fruits or vegetables are retained in the skin. Peeling the skin off is also a better idea if you are feeding a baby or someone who has difficulty digesting food. At the end of the day, a fruit peeler is certainly an indispensable tool in the kitchen.

Nowadays, there are improving the technology when it was design to make comfortable for user.  For this project, it was include automatic system where the user can choose mode whether want to peel one times or two times. It was designed to make user interested with this project because as we know all people have different habit. So, refer to this two modes, user can select the mode. This project is automatic fruit peeler(4)

Week 3 (objectives of project)


Actually purpose of this project is to practice student to solve out problem using application based on research and absolutely improving student skill and knowledge. This project also could train student as well before facing a real situation about producing product and then make student more independent in searching and expanding the experience and knowledge. So, objective of this project are;

  • To improve the product from manual peel to automatic peel
  • To produce an electronic devices that can interface with microcontrollers
  • To make user feel comfortable and easier when they want peel a fruit
  • To enhance and apply the micro-controller skills of the designer.

Week 2 ( abstract of project)


The idea to create an auto fruit peeler is come from research by internet that gives me this title and task for this project. To design this auto fruit peeler, it must be compare with other product that maybe available in the market. Before this, fruit peeler is in manual mode. User need to use energy to peel a fruit. First, get an idea from internet, magazine, newspaper or other from available data. From there the information and idea to design and fabricated hardware can be created. Whole project involves various methods such as collecting data, concept design and fabrication process. The project is powered by the microcontroller PCB and use C programming able to control motor movement. The whole project involved various method and process that usually use in engineering such as concept design, analysis process and lastly fabrication process for hardware. This final year project 1 takes one semester to complete. This project is individual project and all data must be collected within this semester.

Week 1 ( project synopsis)


This project contains of designing and process of fruit peeler machine. Fruit peelers are basically kitchen utensils used to peel any kind of vegetable or fruit especially that needs peeling especially small orbit shape like apple, tomato, pear. There have many differences between these fruit peelers with current design in market place. This design much more portable because it easy to carry together when to slice the apple. In this project, it will use microcontroller system PIC 16F877A to control all operation and motor movement. This design obviously would help peeling the skin off is also a better idea if you are feeding a baby or someone who has difficulty digesting food. This fruit peeler is certainly an indispensable tool in the kitchen. So, this design will peel your fruit less than five minutes.
